Sheep Soup make genre-busting contemporary musical theatre, with emotion to wet your eyes and hilarity to wet your pants.
“Working with a stellar and sincere cast, theyʼve found a beautiful metaphor for the start of healing... itʼs quite wonderful.”
In a community recording studio, Jodie’s grieving friends are making a big song and dance about her death. They form a makeshift band to celebrate her life in musical form, but can’t agree on what kind of tribute Jodie would have wanted... or even who she really was. They dive into her surviving collection of diary entries, poems and secrets to make some sense of things, and to have some fun amongst the darkness of loss.
The show became the first new musical commissioned by Curve for their studio space, and a highly-acclaimed UK tour followed in May 2018 directed by Adam Lenson.
“A reminder that life is a bull to be grabbed by the horns” Metro ★★★★★
Our highly acclaimed flagship show Mrs Green: The Musical mixed council estate marijuana- growing with soul, Motown and drag, and has enjoyed sell-out runs at Edinburgh Fringe, Nottingham Playhouse and Leicester Curve as well as 5* reviews from Metro, EdFringe Review, and ScotsGay.
The contemporary style of musical theatre and real themes of community, ageing and society’s attitude to drugs won over audiences across the country, and the loveable character of Mrs Green continues to reach new audiences with musical bingo nights, date nights and festival gigs
The Invention of Acting
Three humans discover The Invention Of Acting, and the possibilities are endless. And amusing. And they end within an hour. Get yourself in a room with the inimitable, raucous style of Sheep Soup. Expect offbeat original sketches, outrageous characters and bucketloads of unique musical comedy.
Sheep Soup’s first short film is the slowest high speed race in history. When Shaun and Jess stumble upon what they assume to be an abandoned long boat, they decide to take it on a joy ride. Little do they know, Glenn is fast asleep inside. When Glenn wakes up hours away from home, and with a garden competition to get back for, Shaun and Jess lend a helping hand to get him back where he needs to be.
Currently in post-production, Commando saw Sheep Soup regulars, Ben Welch and Shauna Shim work with newcomers, Tim Evans and In The Flesh’s Harriet Cains. On location at the beautiful Trent Lock, a generous couple got ‘on board’ with Sheep Soup and offered up their narrowboat home for the three day shoot. No doubt they didn’t know what they’d let themselves in for.
