Our new musical in development headlines REWRITES SHOWCASE MARCH 2024!

Trapped in a hoard of memories and music, Nel yearns to make space for granddaughter Molly’s 16th birthday celebrations. Can Nel find a way through grief to let her family in?

Our original musical in development examines what material things really mean to us, and how easily we can become buried by the past.

REWRITES 2024

REWRITES showcases new musicals at the start of their journey to the stage – a platform that puts shows on their feet and in front of an audience for the first time. A mix of works-in-progress, concert performances and short preview-style ‘curtain raisers’, you will get to be a part of something special, right at the beginning!

You can catch Nel's Place heading up the showcase at these venues

THE JOURNEY SO FAR...

Hoarding (working title) was first presented as a 10 minute pitch for BEAM in 2018. We were then invited to run a 2-week development project at Mountview drama school in January 2019.

We received Arts Council England funding for an R&D over Summer 2019 which included engaging with front line professionals who work with hoarders across the UK as well as developing ideas for the show with a company of actors, culminating in  sharings at The Lowry, Leicester Curve and at

Adam Lenson's Signal event in London.

In the Autumn of 2019 we were invited to Canada for a 5-week residency as part of Sheridan College's Canadian Music Theatre Project to further develop the show with their 4th year students. This was the beginning of a partnership with Come From Away producer Michael Rubinoff.

A reading of a new draft of the show took place at Liverpool Everyman in 2022, a city in which we have also been working alongside the fantastic support group Hoarders Helpers Hoarders to inform our research and share ideas.

In May 2023 we worked with Lincoln University's Musical Theatre BA (Hons) students to stage a workshop production of Hoarding directed

by Clare Chandler. Clare will return to direct a rehearsed reading performance with the new title Nel's Place at RE:WRITES Festival in March 2024.
